Graduated from I.J. Paderewski Music Academy in Poznan and Music Academy in Łódź (postgraduate studies), currently writing a Ph.D. thesis
under the supervision of prof. U. Kryger at the Music Academy in Łódź.
She developed her vocal technique as a passive and active participant of masterclasses of such renowned artists as Grace Bumbry, Maria Pellegrini,
prof. Helena Łazarska, Carol Richardson –Smith, J. Oxley, Jewgienij Nestrenko, Firenza Cosotto, Teresa Żylis- Gara, Teresa Berganza and Mirella Freni.
In 2007 she becomes a finalist of the Halina Halska in Wroclaw, semi-finalist
of the International Ferrucio Tagliavini Vocal Competition in Deutschlandsberg (Austria), in September 2007 finalist of the International Vocal Competition Concorso Internazionale ‘Citta di Alcamo’
in Alcamo (Sicily, 24-30 September 2007).
In May 2008 becomes a semi-finalist of Concorso Internazionale ‘Festival felle Murge’ in Corato (Italy). In July 2013 she becomes a finalist and a prize winner (Special Prize for Voice Quality) of International Competition “Golden Voices” in Warsaw.
She has been awarded a scholarship of Szczecin for her artistic achievements
(year 2007 and 2008).
In March 2008 in the title role Halka, Dorota Makulec took part in the concert performance of a fragment of opera ‘Halka’ under the patronage of the Presidentof Poland Lech Kaczynski in the Grand Theatre of Poznań and in the Poznań Science Society (Poznańskie Towarzystwo Przyjaciół Nauk).
In 2009 she recorded in duet with Urszula Kryger for the Polish Radio.
She co-operated with Music Theatre in Poznań for the ‘Face to Face’ Festival (Poznań 2009); and was invited to take part in the concert project ‘I love Mozart’ (June 2013).
Dorota Makulec was invited to sing fragments of operas ‘Traviata’ and ‘Rigoletto’ as a soloist by G. Verdi in the Warsaw Chamber Opera during the ‘Gala of Opera Individualities’ (Warsaw 22.09.2013).
Dorota Makulec is also a chamber performer of songs (performed among others in: CK Zamek in Poznań, Szafarnia Chopin Centre, Summer Gardens of Warsaw V Festival).
Apart from chamber concerts she also gives operetta performances with Operus Arte artist group (in Poland and Germany).
